If the first check shows a high level (AQI >200) in the morning by 8am, the school nurse will re-check at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

    Good Air Quality - Code 2

    Daily activities are not affected.

  • 101 - 150
    Slight Pollution - Code 3a

    Teachers report any signs of respiratory difficulty in children to the nurse immediately. Daily activities are not affected.

  • 151 - 200
    Light Pollution - Code 3b

    Teachers report any signs of respiratory difficulty in children to the nurse immediately. Daily activities are not affected.

  • 201 - 250
    Moderate Pollution - Code 4a

    Teachers report any signs of respiratory difficulty in children to the nurse immediately. All PE lessons will be modified and carried out indoors.

  • 251 - 300
    Moderate Heavy Pollution - Code 4b

    Students will remain indoors during break time. Teachers report any signs of respiratory difficulty in children to the nurse immediately. All PE lessons will be modified and carried out indoors.

According to the latest action plan from the Beijing Education Bureau regarding air pollution, if the forecasted alert level is between 301-500 for three consecutive days, then the headmaster will initiate the emergency communication system to ensure all staff and parents are informed of a decision to close.

Details will go out by phone calls, emails and be placed on the website, if possible, the day before. We are required by the directive to ensure work is made available for students while they remain at home. This will be done via the school’s chosen online learning platforms. Teachers will provide guidance on how to engage with online learning to maximum effect.
